Welcome & Introductions

Very pleased to see such a large group attending.

The PPG mentioned how appreciative they are for these meetings and keen for it to continue.

Update of current team

Howard Cohen has now retired – nothing has changed in terms of pathways/services.

New members of staff – Dr Naomi Lauret and Dr Olutosin Igbekele. Dr Aadil Sheikh (Locum) Dr Fathima Mansoor (trainee)

Update on building renovations

New flooring/paint downstairs hall and consulting rooms. Additional consulting room added to 1st floor. Will be updating waiting room.  Shophia asked for suggestions and a notice board was suggested with information on additional services.

Update on ARRS roles

Anushka – Pharmacist is on maternity leave and Anita is covering her.

Sam – First contact physiotherapist.  Patients can book to see Sam on a Wednesday morning.

Juliette – Dietician.  Can help with weight loss/dietary concerns, B12, High cholesterol. Works on Tuesday mornings.

Wellbeing services are also still available.  Patients can be referred by a GP or self-refer.

Current appointment system

Shophia explained that we will continue to use the telephone triage system as it enables the doctors to speak to more patients.  They will call any patients into the practice that need to be seen/examined. We have increased the amount of patients since Covid and patients are presenting with more complex problems so if we operated on the old system, we would not be able to offer as many patients an appointment.

Use of the NHS App

Huge push to encourage patients to use their NHS Apps.  They can order prescriptions, see results, message the surgery, view medical records and check symptoms plus lots more.  Comments to say that they are not very technical and do not understand how to use/set up.  Faizan suggested running an IT workshop in the evening to offer support.

Shelley talked about the new website which is still being devolved, it has lots of information which is very useful to patients.

Development of PPG

Shelley spoke to members to discuss how we can work in partnership to provide the best possible service to our patients.  The PPG can contribute, where appropriate with decision making and consult on service development provision.

Questions

How many patients does the practie have = 6150

AOB:

Caterham Dene are offering timed appointments to our patients when we are full and outside of our hours.  Appointments can be made via reception or 111.  It is staffed by local doctors, they have full access to our system.  It is a very useful service and we would encourage patients to use it.

Caterham Dene Minor Injuries is still available as well, this is a walk in service and now sees children age 5 and above.
