Welcome & Introductions
Welcome everyone to our 4th PPG meeting and thank you for attending.
Update on East Surrey Hospital delayed discharge letters
East Surrey have notified us that they have identified a large number of A&E discharge summary letters dating back to September 2022 that we have not received. We are now in the process of working through the 390 delayed letters. As these letters contain crucial information regarding follow-up care and medication changes this can pose significant risks. Affected patients are being contacted.
Update on changes to booking appointments and new check-in machine.
Following feedback from the last meeting, we have amended our policy to allow for more face-to-face appointments.
We have a new check-in machine arriving in June, which will make the check-in process run smoother.
In addition, we have a TV being installed in reception that will provide useful NHS information to patients in the waiting area.
Update on Veteran friendly practice
We are now officially a veteran friendly practice, Dr Parry will be taking the lead on this and we are delighted to offer this service to our veterans.
Out Of Area patients
We have identified a list of approximately 80 patients that are not located in our catchment area. This has a huge impact on the doctors (for home-visits) and when referring to community services such as the District Nurses as they cannot visit patients out of their area.
Proposed housing developments in local area
See attached leaflet concerning proposals for 400-606 new homes within the local area. Discussion as to how this would affect the surgery. The practice partners advised that we would cope with the additional demand, we would however need to expand the practice to allow for this increase in patients.
Extended hours hub
The extended hours hub is now available to patients. Appointments can be booked at Elizabeth House on Mondays and Warlingham Green on Tuesdays – till 8pm.
Staff changes and updates.
- Anushka (clinical pharmacist) returns in July.
- Physio – Sam is still available on Wednesdays for physio appointments (First Contact)
- We will be taking on some medical students from this summer.
Q&A
Q - Will we be providing more nurse appointments for dressings so that patients do not need to go to Caterham Dene?
A - Our staffing levels are back to normal now. Last year we experienced low nursing appointments due to staff absence/sickness.
Q- Can we arrange for the grass to be cut outside of the surgery, as it is very overgrown and unsightly?
A - Will report to the council.
Q - Can we report potholes on the side road to the surgery as it is a hazard to patients.
A - Will report to the council.
